Bavarian Apple Torte

Always a hit and serves 10-12 small portions.

Crust:
½ cup butter or margarine, softened
1/3 cup sugar
¼ tsp. vanilla
1 cup flour

Cream butter, sugar and vanilla. Blend in flour. Pat onto bottom of 9 – inch springform pan.

Cheese Filling:
8 oz. cream cheese, softened
1 egg
¼ cup sugar
½ tsp. vanilla

Beat cream cheese with egg, sugar and vanilla until smooth. Pour filling onto unbaked crust. Spread with apple topping.

Apple Topping:
4 cups sliced apples
1/3 cup sugar
½ tsp. cinnamon
¼ cup sliced almonds

Toss apples with sugar and cinnamon and almonds. Bake in preheated 450 oven for 10 minutes. Reduce temperature to 400F and bake for 25 minutes more.
